Waynesville R-VI board adopts job description, approves boundary changes and awards broadband contract; votes to enter closed session

At its February meeting the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education adopted a speech-language pathology assistant job description, approved Liberty/East/Freedom boundary lines for the 2027—28 school year, awarded and approved a managed internal broadband services contract with K12 ITC, and voted to enter closed session under RSMo 610.021.
The Waynesville R-VI Board of Education approved several administrative actions at its February meeting, including adoption of a new job description, revisions to elementary attendance boundaries, and a contract award for district broadband services, then voted to go into closed session.
Administration, represented by Dr. Goforth, presented the job description for a speech-language pathology assistant (code 5.010.2) and asked the board to adopt it on second reading. "Administration requests a motion to approve the job description as presented," Dr. Goforth said. A motion and second were made and the board approved the job description by show of hands; the meeting recorder noted five board members in favor on that vote.
On boundary changes, the board considered street-name-based boundary lines for Liberty, East and Freedom elementary schools for the 2027—28 school year. Administration recommended approval of the proposed boundary lines; a motion carried on voice/show-of-hands vote and the board approved the boundaries to take effect in the 2027—28 school year.
The board also considered a recommendation from administration to award the managed internal broadband services bid to K12 ITC and to approve a contract with the same vendor for managed internal broadband services. Mr. Harrison presented the recommendation; board members moved and seconded the contract approval and the motion passed by show of hands.
Before adjourning into a closed session, the board cited the Missouri open-meetings statute: RSMo 610.021. The chair moved to enter closed session under subsections covering legal matters, hiring/firing/discipline/promotion of employees, individual personnel ratings, and safety; the motion was approved by roll call.
The board did not take further public votes after entering closed session. Next public consideration on these items will be recorded in the minutes of the March regular meeting if any follow-up or implementation steps are required.
