Waynesville R‑VI board approves construction updates, multiple vendor contracts and five new buses

The Liberty Elementary project was described as on budget and on track for substantial completion in March 2027; the administration building renovation has experienced unforeseen footing/excavation issues that have required schedule adjustments to phase completion dates (phase 1 estimated August 2026; phase 2 December/January; substantial completion May 2027) and the team is pursuing phasing and mitigation measures to recover time.
Procurements and contracts: The board accepted the low/administration-recommended bids and approved related contracts for several items presented by district staff: Bloomsville Excavating for WHS and sixth‑grade center traffic improvements (subject to final contract negotiation and approval), Wagner Portrait Group for school photography services and its contract, Freedom Interior Solutions as furniture consultant and its contract, Children’s Specialties for playground consulting and subsequent contract, and bus purchase contracts with Masters Transportation and Midwest Transit Equipment for five new school buses. Several of these approvals were recorded by voice/hand show; where a numerical tally was provided earlier for similar motions, votes were unanimous (7–0) for other items.
Surplus declaration: The board declared spring excess items and equipment as surplus property per the administration’s recommendation.
Budget note: Administration recommended a $4,000 contribution from the board for Project Graduation; the board approved the contribution during the same meeting.
The board approved the consent agenda and moved into closed session later in the meeting under the cited statutory sections for legal actions and personnel matters; no contested procurements or public objections to vendor awards were recorded in the public session.
