Anamosa council approves traffic changes, conservation easement and routine personnel and pay actions

The City Council of the City of Anamosa on Sept. 9, 2024 approved a series of routine but consequential items in a single session.
The council approved Resolution 2024-49 to place two stop signs at McNamara Drive and Maquoketa Street; the roll call vote was unanimous. It also amended and set the date for the first regular City Council meeting in November 2024.
Council member Brooke Gombert moved and the council voted to proceed with a conservation easement for the historic Anamosa Public Library building at 100 E. 1st Street (the former police department), and the council approved a temporary waiver of Anamosa Personnel Policy 9.06 to permit the Anamosa Firefighter’s Fall Fundraiser on Sept. 28, 2024.
The council accepted the resignation of City Clerk Penny Lode; the recorded vote showed ayes from Kay Smith, Teresa Tuetken, Todd Weimer, Rich Crump and Dan Smith and a nay from Brooke Gombert. The council also approved consent-agenda pay requests totaling $339,546.49. Mayor Rod Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:06 p.m.
