Coon Rapids awards $101,264.67 to Community Strength Foundation after CSF reports 2025 shortfall

Tiffany Fick, vice chair of the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation (CSF), presented the group’s 2025 financial report and grant synopsis, telling the Council that CSF received $121,691.36 in income during 2025 and ended the year with a $22,988.70 carryforward. She said 81 percent of income came from lawful gambling proceeds and 15 percent from Twin Cities Gateway hotel tax funding, while total expenses were $127,382.79, with the Fourth of July celebration accounting for 56 percent of expenditures.
Mayor Jerry Koch presented the City’s contribution to CSF for $101,264.67. Councilmembers praised CSF’s volunteer leadership and high community participation at events such as Rocky’s Pumpkin Patch and the Tree Lighting Festival; Councilmember Brian Armstrong specifically commended student and youth volunteers for their role in event operations.
CSF and City staff said the existing memorandum of understanding has improved coordination between the organizations and the City’s business sponsorship program. Fick said CSF plans adjustments to better accommodate winter events and encouraged residents to use CSF’s new website for event details and volunteer opportunities.
The Council approved the contribution unanimously. The funds are intended to help CSF continue community celebrations and related programming during 2026.
