At its March 16 meeting the Strongsville City Council voted on several agenda items after committee reports and public hearing.
Resolution 20-26-22: The council voted to suspend the rules and adopt Resolution 20-26-22, authorizing the mayor to advertise for bids for pavement services for 2026. Roll call recorded unanimous approval.
Ordinance 20-26-23: Council voted to suspend the rules and adopt Ordinance 20-26-23, an amendment to 2026 appropriations. The ordinance shows a net increase of $2,113,325, driven largely by a $1,675,000 increase to the Recreation Capital Reserve Fund to record unspent capital note proceeds (for aquatic center repairs, elevator upgrades and related projects), a $240,200 increase in the drainage levy fund for the Westwood Culvert project (of which $500,000 is paid by the Northeast Ohio Sewer District Community Cost Share), a $164,450 increase in the rec center MPC fund for additional staffing, and a $106,495 net decrease related to closing the Southwest dispatch center fund.
Ordinance 20-26-24: Council voted to amend the code to change committee start times to 7:30 a.m. going forward and adopted the ordinance after unanimous roll call.
Ordinance 20-26-25 (library lease): The council placed the proposed lease authorizing the mayor to enter into a new lease with the Cuyahoga County Public Library on first reading and kept it in committee for additional review.
Resolution 20-26-26: After a public hearing the council voted to suspend the rules and adopt Resolution 20-26-26 approving the issuance of tax-exempt private activity bonds by the Public Finance Authority of Wisconsin on behalf of King's Path Senior Ministries to purchase the Southwest Commons nursing home. Officials emphasized the city is not guaranteeing or assuming liability for the bonds; the resolution was approved by roll call.
The meeting record shows the motions were seconded and received unanimous affirmative roll-call votes as recorded by the clerk.
