Board adopts ordinances on ATV routes and speed zones, approves ADRC appointment; purchasing policy changes move to next month

In a series of brief votes following the larger contract discussion, the Chippewa County Board approved two ordinances and an appointment and advanced purchasing policy changes to a later meeting.

The board approved an ordinance designating new ATV and UTV routes (ordinance referenced in the meeting as section 58‑39) on second reading by a 19–0 vote. On the same night the board also approved an ordinance amending speed zones (cited in the meeting as section 58‑31) on second reading, also by 19–0. County staff said the ATV routes came to the board after review by highway staff and local applicants; the speed‑zone changes were presented by the highway commissioner with no additional questions from supervisors.

The board approved a county administrator appointment to the ADRC board as presented. Separately, the department of administration presented first reading of proposed purchasing policy updates to reflect new state law raising the competitive bidding threshold for public works projects from $25,000 to $50,000 and adjusting class‑notice thresholds; the board held first reading and deferred a final vote to next month.

Chair closed the meeting after announcing a preview of a Health Cooperative presentation next week and a June decision point on whether the county will participate in a proposed $10,000,000 state trust fund loan for the cooperative.
