Mai Mae Maezawa, director of budget and planning, presented the proposed FY27 operating budget aligned to the division’s strategic plan and highlighted revenue changes: an overall budget‑to‑budget increase of about $23.9 million (8%) driven by a combination of local transfer changes, an estimated $11.8 million increase in state revenue and a recommended $3.15 million use of fund balance. The presentation listed recurring new investments of about $20.7 million and a total operational budget in the presentation around $305 million with one‑time expenditures of $3 million.
During discussion board members asked for clarification on textbook purchases vs. online resources and how many public questions staff had answered during the engagement process. The motion to adopt the FY27 budget was moved and seconded and passed by roll call with a tally of five yes, one no and one absence: Miss Billman, Dr. Acuff, Mr. Beard, Miss Lee and Chair Berlin voted yes; Mr. Dillanbeck voted no; Miss Osborne was absent. The motion carried.
Board members and staff noted the adopted budget will be revisited after the state budget is released and staff will return with updates as needed.
