Paw Paw Council appointments and local project updates; Direct Line permit suspended

Appointments and boards: President Roman Plaszczak recommended appointing Eric Cook to the DDA Board; Trustee Donne Rohr moved to approve the appointment with support from Trustee Holly Hamilton and the motion carried. The minutes also note that Barbara Carpenter is the new DDA Board chairperson.
Parks and events: The Parks & Rec Board requested a grand reopening of Maple Island before the May 6 election to coincide with the Parks millage renewal; the council recorded the request for scheduling.
Infrastructure and permits: Manager Bryan Myrkle reported that the Briggs Dam project is progressing and that a new bridge was expected to be delivered Wednesday; Elm Street reconstruction was out for bid. Director of Public Services Tim Brandys said he suspended Direct Line’s permit for fiber boring following infrastructure damages; DPS crews have started road patching.
Public safety and staffing: Police Chief Eric Rottman reported the department passed its onsite LEIN audit. Chief Rottman also noted that Office Manager Marler will be on a one-month medical leave beginning March 2.
Meeting close: Trustee Douglas Craddock moved, with support from Trustee Steve Richardson, to adjourn; all members present voted yes and the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
