Finance Committee approves up to $40,000 for Vernon Manor generator switch; courthouse chiller options discussed

Building Supervisor Phil Hewitt asked the committee to authorize repairs and replacements for mechanical equipment. Hewitt said repairing a generator transfer switch at Vernon Manor would cost about $29,000 and that the county had a $110,000 balance in 2016 Infrastructure Funds available for Vernon Manor needs. Committee member Rod Ofte moved to approve up to $40,000 from the 2016 Infrastructure Funds to pay for the transfer switch; the motion was seconded by Will Beitlich and carried by all present.
Hewitt also described options to replace a courthouse chiller: a new-style unit at about $90,000 or a like-for-like multi-stack unit at about $30,000. The committee discussed the chiller’s age and condition (the Vernon Manor chiller was noted as 21 years old), but did not approve a specific chiller purchase at this meeting.
The committee reviewed the monthly bills and approved payment (motion by Mike Leis, second by Will Beitlich). Chairman Ole Yttri adjourned the meeting at 10:22 a.m.
