Board hears updates on preparedness, WIC, water lab proficiency and limited agent plan

Elizabeth A. Johnson, RN, BSN, Director and Health Officer, distributed the September public health report and briefed the board on several program updates at the Oct. 10 meeting.
Staff reported that work has begun on 2017–18 public-health preparedness capabilities, focusing on Community Recovery and Community Preparedness, and on purchasing equipment and supplies through the Southwest Consortium. WIC participant counts for September 2017 were distributed to the board; the transcript records the counts were shared but does not specify the numbers.
Environmental health staff reported follow-up on a rodents-in-rental-unit complaint in Viroqua; "Mr. Moris is continuing to follow-up," and staff said the landlord is working to resolve the tenant issue. The TNC program’s water lab proficiency testing by staff is complete and an independent lab review is finished. Staff also reported the draft plan required by ATCP 74 for full Agent Status is nearly ready to submit to DATCP for review. Finally, staff announced flu clinics beginning Oct. 11 at local businesses and school flu clinics scheduled Oct. 20 through Nov. 8, 2017. The board set its next meetings for Nov. 9 and Dec. 12, both at 1:00 PM.
