He reported Compass Minerals will not exercise a contract option year, so the SHACOG cooperative will advertise for a new supplier. On road projects, McCutcheon said PennDOT has advised that Montour Street remains in the design phase and construction is anticipated in 2027.
McCutcheon also said the borough has received multiple AI-generated Right-to-Know requests seeking police-department information; staff discussed how to handle those requests. He noted two trees on a property on 3rd Avenue have been in the Vacant Property Recovery Program since 2022 and that the County told him the borough is responsible to remove them; McCutcheon said, given the property’s long county program status, he questioned whether the borough should bear removal costs. He added that the house at 1122 Hiland Avenue is scheduled for demolition this month and the contractor hopes to complete it by mid-month.
From Valley Ambulance, Pete Miles said, "Valley had 97 calls last month, Coraopolis had 97 calls and 8 fire standbys and 42 non-transport." He encouraged support for the subscription drive and mentioned a K-9 Golf Outing planned for May 9.
The workshop record includes no formal council actions related to the Montour Street timeline, Right-to-Know handling or the Vacant Property tree question; those items were discussed for staff follow-up.
