Coraopolis council adopts resolution for Montour Lift Station 'Official Sewage Facilities Plan' required by DEP

Coraopolis Borough Council on March 11 approved Resolution 26-460 to adopt and submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) the Coraopolis Water and Sewer Authority’s (CWSA) Official Sewage Facilities Plan for a Montour Lift Station equalization tank under the borough’s Act 537 planning obligations.
Borough Manager McCutcheon explained the DEP requires long-term control planning to reduce sanitary sewer overflows and that the Montour Lift Station equalization tank is a costly project the CWSA must study to meet DEP mandates. The resolution authorizes the borough to forward the plan to the DEP so the authority may continue design and funding planning.
Robb Cardimen moved the resolution; Chuck Spencer seconded and council adopted it by unanimous voice vote. McCutcheon said similar resolutions were being routed by affected municipalities (Robinson and Moon) because they share tributary flows to the Montour Lift Station.
The resolution itself authorizes submission for DEP approval and does not commit the borough to construction funding; subsequent design, funding and permit steps will determine project costs and timelines.
