Fairfield Borough Council on April 28 approved several routine purchases and heard community event updates. Council approved purchasing a new Kyocera copier/printer for $827 with a maintenance agreement that includes toner, drums and parts; the motion passed on a recorded vote of 5 in favor and 1 opposed. The motion to buy the copier was moved by Councilor Camille Cline and seconded by Councilor Sally Thomas.
Council also approved Freedom Landscapes’ $845 quote to remove existing shrubs and plant five boxwoods and three hydrangeas at the Village Hall, and authorized Ensor & Sowers to order a new office AC coil estimated at about $1,102 plus 2–3 hours of labor at $110 per hour. The minutes record that the March financials and invoices (PMCA $555; Boyer & Ritter LLC $8,750) were approved by motion from Pat Pileggi, seconded by Jordan Sites.
Community items included a report that 77 vehicles participated in the covered device recycling event, a Pippinfest committee update (Sherwin Williams in Gettysburg donated most paint; remaining paint cost $52; hydrants to be painted by Memorial Day), and Parks & Recreation plans for Kite Day on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the open dog park, and a planned grand opening tied to Music in the Park. The minutes note a Municipal Authority request for Borough backing of an interest-only loan through ACNB Bank to cover contractor installment payments pending DCED reimbursement; Patricia Smith will address questions at the next council meeting.
