MTPO amends UPWP to name Anoch Whitfield as executive director; board appoints two CAC members

The MTPO voted Jan. 5 to amend the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) to officially record Anoch Whitfield as the organization’s executive director. Staff also asked the board to authorize keeping the current interim director on in a limited capacity through FDOT’s fiscal reporting period to support a smooth transition; staff said FDOT requested that continuity and that the interim participation would extend through June 30.
Staff said Anoch Whitfield will start after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Jan. 20, and that onboarding and draft job descriptions for two support positions will be shared with her for input. Board members discussed whether an employment contract would return for board approval; staff said no formal contract was expected to come back to the board for action.
During the same meeting the board considered Citizen Advisory Committee applications. Staff reported three applicants but said one nominee, David Loveland, had passed away since staff outreach; the board voted to appoint Christopher Potts and Robert Hickernell to the CAC. The board directed staff to send condolences to Mr. Loveland’s family.
Next steps: staff will circulate draft job descriptions for support positions to the new director and will proceed with onboarding; county HR policies were discussed as a possible template for MTPO policies.
