McDonald County Commission approves surplus-property bid, signs $89,175.78 in bills; reviews road complaint and considers courthouse AED

At its March 19, 2025 meeting the McDonald County Commission signed and approved accounts payable totaling $89,175.78 and accepted a bid for surplus county property.

The commission, listed in the minutes as Presiding Commissioner Bryan Hall, Eastern Commissioner Jamey Cope and Western Commissioner Rick Lett with Interim County Clerk Jessica Cole present, reviewed maintenance on multiple county roads, including Hillcrest Road (Noel), Saratoga Road, Stone Road, Norman, Miller, Klondike, Stogden Hollow, Sugar Fork Road, Jaguar, Berman, Fiddlers Ridge, Price Ridge and Splitlog Road. Commissioners returned to inspect maintenance on County Road Sugar Fork after receiving several complaints from the same resident, identified in the minutes as Stanley Coe. According to the minutes, Coe verbally implied he would use physical force against the county’s road grader if maintenance continued; commissioners asked him to leave the office and reported the incident to the Prosecuting Attorney and sheriff detectives.

The Emergency Management director requested that the county purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) for the courthouse and ensure that personnel receive appropriate training. The minutes state the commission discussed making the purchase and providing required training, but do not specify a procurement timeline or funding source.

A bid opening for surplus property was held at 1:38 p.m. Commissioner Jamey Cope moved to accept the bid from Ables; Commissioner Bryan Hall seconded the motion. "All were in favor," and the motion passed, according to the minutes. The minutes do not include the bid amount or additional terms for the surplus property sale.
