The Clarkdale Town Council unanimously approved a proclamation declaring May 2026 as Bike Month and recognized local bicycle organizers for community events and safety initiatives.
Council leadership read the proclamation highlighting bicycling’s health, transportation and tourism benefits and noted partnerships with Yavapai County Community Health Services, the Bicycle Advisory Committee and local schools. "May 2026 is Bike Month," the presiding official said while moving the proclamation for approval.
Jen Mabry of the Bicycle Advisory Committee thanked the council and said Clarkdale will be the first place in the Verde Valley to pilot green paint on roadways to highlight bike routes. "May 20 we have the Ride of Silence coming up," Mabry said, inviting participation and offering to provide bikes to residents who need them.
Councilmember comments noted strong community participation in bike-to-school day (about 100 riders) and thanked staff and partners for grant support that enabled the green-paint pilot. The proclamation was approved by motion and voice vote with no opposition.
