Brooks County Commissioners' Court unanimously accepted the official canvass of the November 4 elections on Nov. 13, 2025, including a special election that creates Brooks County Emergency Services District No. 1. County Judge Eric Ramos read the canvass summary in open court and the Court approved the tally and related order required under state law.
The canvass included a separate action accepting results for constitutional amendments submitted to voters on Nov. 4. County Auditor Higinio Garcia Jr. summarized the county's financial position during the meeting, reporting the county had $756,043.51 in pooled cash. "We were in the black with having $756,043.51 in pool cash," Garcia said.
The Court approved a canvassing order for the new emergency services district under Texas Health and Safety Code Section 775.019, formalizing the steps needed to record the district's creation after the special election. The motion to accept the canvass of Brooks County Emergency Services District No. 1 was moved by Commissioner Nora Salinas and seconded by Commissioner Aaron Trevino; the vote was unanimous.
Judge Ramos and commissioners did not discuss implementation details for the new district at the Nov. 13 meeting; the action recorded was the formal canvass and issuance of the canvassing order. The canvass and order complete the county's immediate statutory duties following the election; any subsequent steps to fund or staff the district were not addressed at this session.
The Court adjourned at 11:52 a.m.
