Airport board approves multiple contract awards, lease renewals and a work authorization for a new administrative facility

The Beaufort County Airport Board approved a package of routine but consequential operational items on June 12, including a design authorization for a combined facility, several contract awards and multiple lease renewals.

John presented a work authorization for conceptual design of a combined administrative, security and maintenance facility at 26 Hunter Road so the airport can move headquarters off the airfield; the board moved, seconded and approved the authorization.

The board awarded the airfield drainage contract to Quality Enterprises, noting this work brings drainage structures into compliance after the airport's operational classification change. John described the designs as complete and bids as complete before the award vote.

The board also selected Volaire Aviation Consulting through a request-for-qualifications process to continue service-development and marketing work and re-awarded advertising concessions to incumbent Departure Media, a Charleston-based, women-owned business identified as a DBE. Multiple short-term office-space lease renewals and non-tenant commercial operating agreements were presented as form renewals, including a lease adjustment tied to an ownership name change for a flight-training operator; the board approved those items as presented.

Board members had brief operational questions about runway work scheduling and hangar-permit timing but no substantive objections to the contract awards; all motions reported passed without recorded opposition.
