East Central ISD honors staff and students in service awards program
Summary
East Central ISD recognized staff milestones totaling 2,564 combined years of service, honored retirees representing 834 years of work and recognized 39 teachers who earned Teacher Incentive Allotment designations funded by the Texas Education Agency.
Miss Gomez, principal of East Central High School, opened the evening program and introduced students and staff who led the ceremony and presentations.
The program included an opening prayer by senior Stormy Belvaughn, a presentation of colors and the national anthem by the East Central High School varsity choir. "It is my honor to be here tonight as the principal of East Central High School," Miss Gomez said as she welcomed trustees and guests.
The evening recognized staff across multiple milestone categories. An emcee stated the honorees represent a combined 2,564 years of service to East Central ISD and asked family members of five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25- and 30-year recipients to stand for recognition. Retirees in attendance were also honored; the program noted retirees collectively represent 834 years of service to the district.
The district also recognized 39 teachers who received designations under the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program, which the program said is funded by the Texas Education Agency. The emcee described TIA as awarding teachers at three levels — recognized, exemplary and mastery — and said recipients will be photographed and formally acknowledged during the ceremony.
Student groups and career and technical education programs contributed to the program: the JROTC color guard (directed by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Blake Williams) participated, and CTE students produced gift items given to trustees, including apparel, graphic-design beverage containers and culinary items. Attendees were urged to applaud the honorees and their families.
The ceremony concluded with brief student remarks and a handoff back to the stage team. No policy votes or formal board actions were taken as part of the recognition program.
