Resident Jessica Carter says Comcast crew blocked neighborhood roads; mayor vows follow-up

A Georgetown resident told the City Council on April 20 that a Comcast construction crew blocked neighborhood streets, interfered with bus routes and frightened her daughter.
"They were blocking the road, the buses had a hard time getting through," resident Jessica Carter said, adding that a crew member who visited her home acknowledged problems but said the company had "no choice." Carter said she called 911 when workers blocked her driveway and that no officer arrived; she also said city staffer Rusty gave her a project manager’s number and that the project manager, Keith, agreed the crew should be pulled.
Mayor Darin Readnour told the council the contractor did not have a right-of-way permit and "should not be blocking the roads," and said he would speak with Captain Anderson about the reported lack of police response. Officer Murray told the council the police chief had worked the overnight shift and Captain Anderson was the only officer available when the resident reported the issue.
The council took no formal vote on the complaint at the meeting. The mayor said city staff would follow up with the contractor and local law enforcement to resolve the access and safety concerns the resident raised.
