The Socorro Historical Landmark Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness on April 8 for a fence alteration at 10383 Socorro Road, clearing the applicant to pursue a permit.
Staff said the application involves removing existing chain link and replacing it with a wrought-iron style design; staff recommended conditional approval provided materials and colors match the submitted design. "We do not have any concerns regarding this 'cause they are removing chain link," staff said.
Applicant Renee Garcia described using repurposed wagon-wheel elements and a welded mesh backing to keep small animals contained; she offered to provide color chips if the commission requested a painted finish. Commissioners praised the design, and Dr. Elizabeth Ponce Lugo moved to approve the COA. Commissioner Rafael Padilla seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Staff said Isabella Perez (Bella) would contact the applicant the following day about permit processing.
