Student representatives highlight arts, athletics and attendance initiatives at Toms River board meeting

Student representatives from Toms River High School East, North and South used the Feb. 18 board meeting to spotlight school activities, arts recognitions and sports accomplishments.
High School East representative Michaela Melanac described recent activities ranging from a military club’s care-package campaign to a March 3 dodgeball tournament and noted wrestling’s advance to the sectional finals. High School North’s Alicia highlighted a schoolwide attendance initiative and events supporting college scholarships. High School South’s Michaela Manzy reported on Valentine’s Day activities, club fundraisers, the performing-arts schedule (Into the Woods, March 5–7) and several athletic achievements.
In the awards portion of the meeting, Intermediate North students Devon Gupta and Sanvi Gupta were named to the 2026 Allshore Orchestra, Vicki Parchic from Intermediate South earned Allshore placement, and two High School East students — Elizabeth Richardson and Isabella Catillo — received South Jersey Orchestra recognition. Board members and staff praised the district’s music and theater programs and encouraged attendance at upcoming productions and athletics events.
The meeting’s student reports and awards took place at the start of the public session; board members repeatedly emphasized support for arts, extracurriculars and initiatives to raise daily attendance. The board dismissed student representatives before moving into routine business.
