Woodstock CUSD 200 honors student athletes and staff; custodian Jake and cafeteria worker Katie Silski singled out

The Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education set aside time May 12 to recognize student-athletes and district employees for recent accomplishments and sustained service.
A resolution presented by the board praised the contributions of athletes who represented the district in competition and authorized certificates of achievement on behalf of the district. Students were invited forward for group photos.
Separately, board members and staff publicly recognized a long-serving custodial staff member identified as Jake. A nominator described Jake's decade of service, saying he has "managed two buildings," organized crews to replace tile and prepare classrooms over a single weekend and stepped in during staffing shortages. "Jake ensures the job gets done and done well," the presenter said.
The board also recognized Katie Silski, who was described as new to the school this year and credited with creating a welcoming cafeteria environment, helping with breakfast and snacks, and supporting younger students. Students offered short comments praising her kindness and engagement.
The board presented certificates and thanked the honorees. No policy or budgetary actions were taken as part of the recognition segment.
