The City Council voted unanimously on May 12 to approve Glendora’s fiscal year 2026–27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) annual action plan and authorized the city manager to submit the plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Economic Development and Housing Manager Tiffany Chu told the council Glendora received $290,650 in CDBG funding for the coming year. Staff recommended reserving 20% for administration and fair housing services and directing 80% to infrastructure improvements focused on accessibility: replacing damaged curb, gutter, sidewalk and curb ramps in qualifying areas. Chu said the projects were consistent with the city's five-year consolidated plan and emphasized the program’s statutory requirement to serve low- and moderate-income households.
Councilmember Mr. Elawos moved the staff recommendation and Mr. Thompson seconded the motion. The roll call vote was recorded as 5–0 in favor.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing on the CDBG plan and staff indicated there had been no written correspondence received prior to the meeting. The action moves the city forward to submit the plan to HUD and implement the identified infrastructure and fair-housing activities.
