She listed student-athletes and coaches from multiple schools and noted state qualifiers in swimming and upcoming events including unified basketball and state cheer.
Board members praised the program’s impact on both Special Olympics athletes and their unified partners, with one parent saying participation “changed his world” and emphasizing the benefits for students’ social and leadership development. The board’s recognition included applause for coaches Taylor Meadows, Savannah Blue, Megan Sullivan and others who helped lead teams that earned top finishes.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal board action was required. The district’s Special Olympics schedule includes upcoming regional and state events through the spring.
