Dr. Jennifer Neber described a redesign of Stage Craft & Design that adds a reflective fine‑arts component so students who build sets and manage lighting can earn a G elective. The change formalizes existing practice, adds units on design rationale and reflection, and makes the course more comparable to theater arts for university elective credit.
The board also approved an honors designation for Chamber Singers that introduces music history, written analysis and a culminating composition project. Dr. Neber and Dr. Brookie said most analytical assignments will be completed in class and the honors designation will be repeatable for multiple years of credit.
Board discussion focused on whether the redesigned courses warrant standalone periods, potential enrollment growth, workload for students and grading/assessment adjustments; trustees approved both items by voice vote.
