The board recognized 39 retirees from the 2024–25 school year at its June meeting, presenting plaques and a video tribute and noting a combined 474 years of service among the 20 attendees.
Superintendent Dr. Guccio and board members read names and years of service for educators and support staff across district schools. Examples cited during the ceremony included Thomas Beck (25 years); Nancy Bickl Portoi (26 years); Michelle Fischer, director of transportation (24 years); Kevin Stewart, custodian (13 years); and multiple teachers and bus drivers who were thanked for long service.
A short video narrated by student Dylan Guzman listed the retiree roster and the board presented flowers and plaques as each retiree was welcomed to the stage. The superintendent encouraged retirees to stay in touch through the district newsletter; attendees applauded and staff appreciation awards were also presented earlier in the meeting.
The board paused briefly to allow photographs and distribution of plaques and boxes for award protection before moving on to the rest of the agenda.
