Dana West, managing broker at Key West Property Partners (brokered by EXP), told the board the firm is the district's official real-estate brokerage partner and has begun active marketing of school properties via commercial listing services and targeted broker outreach. "I'm Dana West. I am the managing broker of Key West Property Partners, brokered by EXP," she said when introducing herself to the board.
West described a staged sales workflow: inquiries, internal vetting of prospective buyers (financial records, LLC documentation, alderman support letters), coordinated site tours, due diligence, offer evaluation and referral to the real-estate board and main board for final approval. She said the brokerage is using public-facing and broker-only platforms and has logged dozens of inquiries and coordinated many site tours; she added the firm has not closed any sales yet but is in active negotiations on some properties.
Board members asked for clarification on which schools were currently listed and when additional schools would appear on the public listing. West said some assets had been temporarily removed during site-maintenance work and that additional listings would be posted by the end of the week, and that photos and interior access for some schools were pending security clearance.
Members asked how the district would control reuse, how community input would be collected when properties are repurposed, and whether the district would prioritize community-minded buyers; West said targeted outreach focused on qualified institutional and developer prospects and that the district retains final approval authority when offers are presented to the real-estate board.
Next steps: staff and the brokerage will provide updated, public-facing lists of available properties and a timeline for upcoming listings; the board asked staff to return with additional detail on community engagement plans for reuse scenarios.
