City manager previews new website and sidewalk accessibility evaluation using 'dark spots' robots

In the city manager’s report staff said a redesigned City of Tyler website will launch this Wednesday, improving navigation and providing a service finder for residents. Communications staff worked with Granicus and IT to analyze usage and build an easier experience, the manager said.
The manager also outlined an ADA self-evaluation and sidewalk transition plan that will use small robotic units called "dark spots" to capture sidewalk images for accessibility assessments. Staff will host a demonstration booth at the library summer kickoff on June 9 at the W. T. Berkshire Conference Center; fieldwork is expected to begin in early June and finish in about three weeks.
The manager thanked councilmembers for participating in Public Service Recognition Week and highlighted Nikki Ingram’s presentations at the Texas Water Conference on public outreach and water quality issues.
Council received the report and adjourned the meeting.
