Glynn County says SPLOST projects are on track; Coast Guard Beach parking lot expected by Memorial Day

Glynn County officials told a local program that capital projects funded through the county's SPLOST program are progressing and that several community events are scheduled for May and the summer.
A SPLOST quarterly review (QER) is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, and will be livestreamed on county YouTube, officials said. County staff reported progress on multiple projects including two fire stations, road improvements and drainage work; Jason Hagen was identified as the SPLOST project manager and Resin Talbot as the capital projects manager and procurement chief.
County representatives said they are pushing to open the first phase (parking lot) of the Coast Guard Beach project by Memorial Day and that the building portion of the project is targeted for January. "They're about four months ahead of schedule," said the host's guest, who urged the contractor to meet the accelerated timeline.
Officials also described community programs and events: the Friday night hoops summer program (aiming for about 100 kids nightly, up from roughly 80 last year), and a Chamber-sponsored public safety awards luncheon set for May 29 to honor police, fire and citizen nominees. Fourth of July plans for Saint Simons Pier were previewed, with organizers collecting flyers and preparing festivities for the holiday.
The county encouraged residents to watch the SPLOST QER for detailed project lists and timelines and to use the county website for updates.
