Treasurer and GM say Learner Theater finances improving, city still covers majority of operations

Nick said gross profit from theater operations through March was $156,980, an increase from $52,224 in the comparable period the prior year. He reported a year‑to‑date net loss for Learner operations, including city expenses, of $15,790, which he said represents a significant improvement from the prior year’s net loss. Nick said budgeted city operational expenses were under budget by $73,285 year‑to‑date.
The Treasurer described funding sources for total operational expenses of $422,770: a city contribution of $263,812 (62%) and a Learner contribution of $158,958 (38%). He contrasted that with the prior year’s split, which he said was approximately 89% city and 11% Learner contribution.
GM Carl Thompson provided additional context shortly after, reporting that the 2026 calendar includes more than 95 confirmed performances and that cumulative year-to-date ticket sales are higher than in 2025 by about $86,000. Thompson said March produced generally positive results with most shows generating positive net income.
The board moved to accept the Treasurer’s report and placed it on record.
