Ventnor City swears in four new beach-patrol leaders

Mayor Creville and the Board of Commissioners on May 14 swore in four members of the Ventnor City Beach Patrol after the board approved resolutions promoting the guards.
Megan Holland was sworn in as Beach Patrol captain and repeated the oath, stating, “I Megan Holland ... do solemnly swear or affirm,” before officials posed for photos. Daniel Shaw took the oath as a senior lieutenant; Vincent Mahoney and Patrick ("Patty") Milligan were sworn in as lieutenants. Each promotion was authorized under resolutions 2026-148 through 2026-151, which the board moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
The board highlighted the promotions as an example of staff moving up through the ranks. Mayor Creville thanked the families and longtime community volunteers in attendance and noted the continuity between veteran lifeguards and the newly promoted officers.
The promotions become effective April 23, 2026, according to the sworn statements given during the meeting. The board conducted a ceremonial signing and photographs following the oaths. No dissent was recorded during the roll-call votes on the resolutions.
Looking ahead, the mayor said the city values its beach safety program and expects the promoted officers to assume expanded operational responsibilities during the summer season.
