Board approves $125,000 lights, scoreboard purchase and uniform agreement; OKs $8,000 change order

The district described the baseball scoreboard as “on its last legs” and discussed funding the purchase from capital projects (and noting it will appear in next year’s capital budget). The board moved and passed the purchase of a replacement scoreboard.
For the softball field lights, staff said they received eight bids and recommended Barton Electric at a price of $125,000 to install lights and equalize the softball facility with the baseball field. Board members confirmed the work would be funded from capital projects and that the district expects sufficient revenue next year to cover the cost; a motion to award Barton Electric passed.
The board also approved an athletic uniform agreement with vendor BSN. Staff described the program as a centralized purchasing agreement — not an immediate blanket purchase — that would offer estimated savings of 30%–50% on apparel and about 35% off footwear when the district uses the vendor. Board members discussed potential impacts on local screen printers and options for supporting students who need shoes; staff noted existing support channels such as Care to Learn for students with hardship. The motion to approve the agreement carried.
