The Finance Committee on May 11 recommended that the Town Council appoint CLA as the town’s auditor for the coming year.
Finance Director Cherie Trahan said the current auditors returned a proposal that represented only a 5% increase from prior costs; she noted that the firm had also increased costs by 15% the previous year but had "stepped up" during the recent audit. Trahan said she budgeted $43,890 for the engagement and estimated the town’s share would be $42,530, producing a modest budget savings.
Julie Blanchard moved and Peter Larson seconded a recommendation to appoint CLA; the committee voted unanimously to recommend the appointment. Trahan said she still supports going out to bid in the future but appreciated the firm’s recent responsiveness.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the full Town Council for final appointment.
