Anne Nelson Stoner, Equity Manager, summarized results of an Equity Advisory Committee meeting that focused on creating a community network map to identify marginalized voices and local organizations that work with them. She said the goal is to use network mapping to reach residents where they are and to inform an equity action plan and a mission statement.
The meeting raised participatory‑budgeting concepts for handling equity funds and discussed outreach strategies, including meeting in different neighborhoods and using municipal community spaces to reduce barriers to participation. Anne said two UVM interns are preparing engagement guides and resident guides to the RPC to support outreach.
Chris Shaw suggested rotating meeting locations across neighborhoods to boost participation; Anne agreed that meeting people where they are could build longer‑term relationships and recommended inviting 3–4 board or committee members to meet with community members in different locales.
