Bristol police honor dispatcher and officers for quick actions in childbirth, cold‑weather rescue and felony arrest

The Bristol Police Department used the March Police Commission meeting to recognize multiple lifesaving and high‑impact responses. Chief Morello presented a letter of commendation and a Stark pin to dispatcher Amanda Chometz for remaining on a 911 call and guiding a husband through the delivery of his daughter, Sophia, on Feb. 21, 2026. “Amanda remained on the line and provided clear instructions. The baby was delivered about 1 minute later,” Chief Morello said.
On Feb. 9, 2026, Officer Jeffrey Pericino noticed a child standing outside in subzero temperatures and took the child into his patrol car before contacting emergency medical services. EMTs Billy McCann and Evan Burley were diverted to render care; Chief Morello awarded Pericino, McCann and Burley the department’s medical life‑saving ribbon and named Officer Pericino the February 2026 Officer of the Month.
Chief Morello also described a complex multi‑suspect response involving detectives and several officers who established a perimeter, coordinated canine and vehicle stops, and secured multiple arrests. He said multiple officers and detectives would receive the department’s Silver Star Award and letters of commendation for their efforts in the case.
The commission moved on to its agenda after the awards; Chief Morello later provided routine staffing and scheduling updates during his chief’s report.
