A staff member told the Bristol Historic District Commission on Feb. 25 that the commission sends an annual demolition-delay letter to the chief building official to remind that office of the 90-day demolition delay for properties listed on the city’s historic resources inventory.
The staff representative said the practice is routine and preventive: “It’s a letter that we send to the chief building official every year just to remind him and his office that there is a 90-day demolition delay for those properties that are on the historic resources inventory,” the presenter said. The presenter said there have been no demolition-delay issues in the commission’s area since before the pandemic.
Commissioners characterized the reminder as standard practice and asked no substantive questions; staff noted the process helps ensure that demolition plans affecting inventory properties are routed through the land use office for commission review before permits proceed.
