Staff (S2) said they had a 45‑minute meeting with corporation counsel and will continue fact‑finding, including conversations with planners in other municipalities (the planner in Danbury was mentioned) that have faced similar issues. Staff proposed a triage approach, offering options that could be implemented relatively quickly and reserving drafting formal regulations for a later step.
The commission voted to continue discussion on June 8, 2026, and to place the item first under new business at that meeting; staff and corporation counsel will join to outline legal options and potential regulatory approaches.
