Hancock County supervisors approve agenda, hire three summer conservation workers and OK $636.99 vehicle quote

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors on May 4 approved its tentative agenda and the minutes of April 27, authorized a $636.99 purchase for fender flares for a maintenance pickup, hired three summer conservation workers and directed the auditor to issue checks for claims on file.
Supervisor Gary Rayhons moved to approve the tentative agenda; Supervisor Florence "Sis" Greiman seconded and the motion carried unanimously, the minutes show. Greiman later moved to approve the April 27, 2026 minutes; Rayhons seconded and that motion also carried.
On a separate motion, the Board approved a quote from Line-X of Clear Lake–Mason City to provide fender flares for a county maintenance pickup in the amount of $636.99. The motion to accept the quote was made by Supervisor Greiman, seconded by Supervisor Rayhons and carried unanimously.
The Board approved hiring three summer employees for the Conservation department, effective May 5, 2026 at 7:30 a.m.: Kyle Roberts at $14.75 per hour; Harold Curley at $13.25 per hour; and Kenneth Hook at $14.75 per hour. The hires were approved on a motion by Supervisor Rayhons, seconded by Supervisor Greiman and carried.
The board also authorized the County Auditor to issue checks for the claims on file for May 4, 2026; the minutes state that a full listing of all claims paid in May 2026 will be published in the May 18, 2026 minutes.
Supervisor Greiman moved to adjourn at 10:57 a.m.; the motion carried with all supervisors voting “Aye.” The Board is scheduled to meet next on May 11, 2026.
