The Village Council on April 15 approved two construction‑related change orders: an extra $70,000 for an ongoing vulnerability assessment and a task order for field testing at the Sports Park Phase I construction.
Village Manager Steve Sarkozy told the council the $70,000 request would fund additional floor‑area elevation certificates in areas identified as flood‑prone; the work is part of a vulnerability assessment being performed by Aptan Environmental and Infrastructure Corporation and is funded through a county community development block grant. “This is a request for an additional $70,000 to cover additional floor area elevation certificates in the areas that are identified as flood prone,” Sarkozy said, adding that the work will help the village respond quickly to FEMA requirements and better map flood impacts.
On a separate but related infrastructure item, staff presented a change order to provide field testing across the nearly 100 acres under construction at the Sports Park to verify soil compaction, concrete testing and materials quality. Sarkozy said the testing is a normal part of the construction process to ensure the village receives the appropriate long‑term product.
Both items received council approval by roll call.
