Auburndale approves three developer agreements tied to Southern Force Main completion

The Auburndale City Commission on April 6 approved three separate developer agreements and amendments that let developers proceed with construction activity but prevent any connection or discharge to the City’s wastewater collection system until the Southern Force Main reroute Phases I and II are completed and operational as determined by the City.
Community Development Director Julie Womble told commissioners the proposed changes respond to a utility study by Chastain-Skillman identifying required utility improvements; staff recommended approval for all items. The actions approved were: an amendment for 92 Recker ECP, LLC.; an amendment for Auburndale Burger South LLC. (formerly HD INVESCO, LLC.); and a proposed Developer’s Agreement with Raj Patel / SSR Lodging LLC. The SSR Lodging project was described as a roughly 2.7-acre commercial site at Neptune Road and Hillcrest Road with existing commercial future land-use and zoning.
Commissioners asked whether the approvals would open the door for other developers to proceed under similar arrangements. Womble said the amendments are tied specifically to the Southern Force Main project and to individual developers’ agreements and construction readiness; she noted the city is reviewing multiple agreements in various stages of site planning, acquisition and permitting and that additional amendments tied to Southern Force Main Phase 2 are likely to return to the Commission in the future. Commissioner Travis Avery made the motion to approve the 92 Recker amendment, Commissioner Sean Levy moved the Auburndale Burger South amendment, and Commissioner Crystal Tijerina moved approval of the SSR Lodging agreement; all motions were seconded and carried with unanimous votes.
