Planning Commission forwards annexation, FLUM and M2 rezoning recommendation for 3789 Flypark Drive unit

The Rockledge Planning Commission unanimously recommended May 5 that City Council approve annexation, a comprehensive plan amendment and a zoning change to M2 for a 0.04-acre parcel at 3789 Flypark Drive, Unit U-4.
Community Development Director John W. Cooper introduced ANX-26-03 and said the application is accompanied by requests to rezone the parcel from Brevard County IU – Light Industrial to the City’s M2 – Light Industrial and Warehousing District and to assign a City Future Land Use Map designation for Planning District 7. Cooper noted the property is currently served by septic and that the applicant acknowledges future connection to the city sanitary sewer system will be required at the applicant’s expense when the city deems it necessary. Staff recommended forwarding the package to City Council as consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and the City’s Land Development Regulations.
Chairwoman Karen Kuta opened the public hearings; no members of the public spoke. Commissioner Jacqueline Gonzalez moved and Commissioner Thomas Bird seconded forwarding the annexation recommendation; the motion passed 5-0. The commission also voted 5-0 to recommend approval of CPA-26-02 and ZDA-26-03.
The recommendations will be sent to City Council for final action. The Planning Commission adjourned at 6:17 p.m.
