Rockledge CRA tables officer selection, receives financial reports and hears staff updates

At its Feb. 25 meeting, the Rockledge CRA tabled selection of chair and vice chair, accepted financial reports for Oct. 2025–Jan. 2026 and heard staff updates on events and the façade grant program.
The Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Commissioners on Feb. 25 voted to postpone selecting a chair and vice chair until the next meeting, accepted financial reports for October 2025 through January 2026, and heard staff reports on recent and upcoming community events and façade grant program activity.
Recording Secretary Tricia T. Olsson opened the meeting and, because the Chair and Vice-Chair were absent, called for a nomination for Chair Pro Tem. Commissioner Adam Copenhaver nominated Commissioner Steve Lum; Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders seconded and the board approved the nomination 4-0. Lum presided as Chair Pro Tem for the remainder of the meeting.
On a motion by Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders, seconded by Commissioner Adam Copenhaver, the board moved to receive the financial reports for October, November and December 2025 and January 2026; the motion carried 4-0. Earlier in the meeting staff had noted these items as part of the financial reports section.
Community Development Director John Cooper provided a progress report listing recent events (City annual food drive, multiple Food Truck Fridays, Light Up Rockledge, the Cocoa/Rockledge Holiday Parade) and upcoming events (Food Truck Friday on March 13, 2026; Trash Bash on April 11, 2026). Cooper also summarized the façade grant program, reporting $103,995.49 in grants in progress and $106,096.33 completed.
Commissioners Constance Burrell, Steve Lum, Frederick “Rick” Sanders and Adam Copenhaver each offered remarks of appreciation for staff and the community; Commissioner Sanders encouraged other businesses to pursue façade improvement grants. With no further business, Chair Pro Tem Lum declared the meeting adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
