Rockledge CRA approves $142,134.45 in façade improvement grants for eight projects

The Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Commissioners on Feb. 25 approved façade improvement grants totaling $142,134.45 for eight projects in the agency’s redevelopment area, with each approval recorded as unanimous (4-0).

Community Development Director John Cooper presented each application and staff recommendations, noting the program has $103,995.49 in grants currently in progress and $106,096.33 completed. The board approved awards ranging from a $625 storefront sign grant to $25,000 awards for larger exterior projects; staff set Sept. 30, 2026 as the completion deadline for each approved project.

The board approved the following grants (motion makers and seconds noted):

Building Bodies Fitness, 906 Barton Boulevard — Interior equipment, flooring and lighting plus about 220 sq. ft. of permeable paving; total project cost $104,650.02; grants approved: $25,000.00 (interior) and $3,332.45 (exterior). Commissioner Adam Copenhaver moved; Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

416 LLC (applicant: William Kinstler), 416 Richard Road — Exterior painting, matching accessory structures, landscaping with mulch/sod/pavers and fencing; total project cost $41,415.00; grant approved: $20,707.50. Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders moved; Commissioner Adam Copenhaver seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

877 Barton Holding LLC (representative: Greg Schindler), 877 Barton Boulevard — Interior concrete replacement and inground car lifts; exterior painting, pylon sign refacing and asphalt overlay; grants approved: $12,137.50 (interior) and $14,999.00 (exterior). Commissioner Adam Copenhaver moved; Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

Dragonfly Yoga & Bungee Fitness LLC, 500 Barton Boulevard, Suite 5 — Large storefront sign, road sign and door/back-door logos; total quoted cost $1,250.00; grant approved: $625.00. Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders moved; Commissioner Adam Copenhaver seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

Carmel Retirement Condominium Association, 1400 Huntington Lane — Landscaping at front entrance and clubhouse, seal/reseal and repaint of parking entrances; total project cost $12,913.00; grant approved: $6,456.50. Commissioner Adam Copenhaver moved; Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

Cerbo Family Trust (applicant: Domenico Cerbo), 760 Barnes Boulevard — Sign refacing, restriping/resealing of parking lot, tree trimming and mulch; total project cost $18,531.00; grant approved: $9,265.50. Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders moved; Commissioner Adam Copenhaver seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

Hazelwood Villas Condos (President: Debbie Schull), 1720 Murrell Road — Paint five buildings, stairwells and dumpster enclosure to match; total project cost $49,220.00; grant approved: $24,610.00. Commissioner Adam Copenhaver moved; Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

Rockledge Properties LLC, 1802 Rockledge Boulevard — Landscaping, reseal/restripe of parking lot and parking-lot lighting; total project cost $53,935.33; grant approved: $25,000.00. Commissioner Frederick “Rick” Sanders moved; Commissioner Adam Copenhaver seconded. Motion carried 4-0.

The grants are intended to support building appearance, signage and site improvements in the redevelopment area. John Cooper explained the program’s guidelines, how calculations are determined and staff’s recommendation for each award. Projects must be completed by Sept. 30, 2026, per the staff recommendation adopted by the board.

The board’s formal approvals followed presentations and applicant answers to commissioners’ questions. The meeting adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
