The Rockledge City Council on May 6 approved voluntary annexations and matching land-use and zoning changes for two parcels, motions that passed unanimously or without objection.
Community Development Director John Cooper presented both applications. The council approved ANX-25-01 to annex approximately 7.14 acres at 2355 Pluckebaum Road, accompanied by Comprehensive Plan Amendment CPA-25-01 to designate the parcel as COM — Commercial Planning District 4 and ZDA-25-02 to zone it C2 — General Commercial District. Cooper told the council the property will continue its existing commercial/office use, would remove an enclave, and is not expected to impact public utilities or public safety. Councilman Duane A. Daski moved to approve ANX-25-01 and Councilwoman Tara L. Connor moved to approve CPA-25-01; both motions carried unanimously and the City Attorney was directed to draft the requisite ordinances.
The council also approved ANX-26-01 to annex approximately 1.29 acres at 275 Barnes Boulevard, with Comprehensive Plan Amendment CPA-26-01 to designate the site IND — Industrial in Planning District 7 and ZDA-26-01 to zone it IP — Industrial Park District so the existing warehouse use may continue. Community Development Director John Cooper stated the property is currently used for warehousing, is surrounded by city properties, and that annexation would remove an enclave without a major impact on utilities or services. Council members moved and seconded the motions; each passed without objection.
All actions were procedural approvals that directed the City Attorney to prepare ordinances for formal adoption at a future meeting. No public comment was recorded on these items during the hearings.
