Rockledge City Manager Dr. Brenda Fettrow to retire at year’s end; council briefed on clerk hiring

Dr. Brenda Fettrow, Rockledge’s City Manager, told the City Council on April 15 that she will retire at the end of the 2026 calendar year and offered to assist with a smooth transition to her successor.
Fettrow also reported that the City received 14 applications for the City Clerk position, that three applicants met the qualifications but one withdrew, and that two candidates will be interviewed on April 17. She said she will email the Council her recommendation for hire before the council’s May 6 meeting.
“This has been my greatest professional joy serving as City Manager for a total of ten (10) years,” Fettrow said as she announced her retirement and thanked Council and staff for their support. She added she would make herself available to help ensure an orderly transition.
Mayor Thomas J. Price and members of the council responded with congratulations and remarks of appreciation for Fettrow’s decade of service. Price thanked the audience and said he is optimistic about finding qualified candidates to fill upcoming vacancies.
The council took no formal action on the retirement announcement at the April 15 meeting. The next procedural step on the clerk hire is interviews on April 17 and a hiring recommendation to be circulated by email before the May 6 council meeting.
