Oneida County Planning and Development Committee postpones decision on zoning and shoreland ordinance amendments

Chair Scott Holewinski opened the hearing at 1:00 p.m. and Planning and Zoning Director Karl Jennrich described the amendments, the notice process and the availability of supporting materials. Jennrich said on the record, "all of the proposed language was not published due to costs, but "it was and will be available in the department during normal business hours, as well as on the county website." He told the committee the Notice of Public Hearing appeared in the Northwoods River News on Feb. 10 and 17, 2026; the notice was posted on the Oneida County Courthouse bulletin board on Feb. 5, 2026; a proof of publication and an affidavit of mailing are in the file; and the Department of Natural Resources provided written comments that were distributed to the committee and included in the file.
Outside counsel Larry Konopacki also addressed the committee, summarizing legal and procedural considerations related to the ordinance review and recommending further review. Jennrich read submitted public comments into the record; the transcript does not include the content of those comments, but the record shows that public commenters Fred Knoch, Jeff Verdoorn, Michele Sadauskas and Eric Rempala each spoke during the public portion of the hearing.
After the public portion closed, Committee member Dan Hess moved to postpone action and asked Jennrich to return with updates and answers to outstanding questions; Committee member Mitchell Ives seconded the motion. The motion carried with all members present voting "Aye." The committee set a future meeting date of March 4, 2026 to continue consideration. Chair Holewinski adjourned the meeting at 1:49 p.m.
