Commission tables small plunge-spa proposal at Acre Mountain Road pending erosion controls and site access plans

The Environmental Impact Commission on Sept. 25 heard an application to install a single semi above-ground gunite plunge spa next to a Bluestone patio at Acre Mountain Road and voted to table the matter while staff completes its review and schedules a site inspection.

"My name is Kyle Willis with Roxbury Pool and Patio," the applicant's representative said, describing the project as "a semi above ground, gunite spa next to the foundation under the spiral staircase on the Bluestone patio elevation" measuring about "7 by 10 finished." Staff said they had inspected the property and raised questions about erosion and sedimentation controls and asked the applicant to show how materials and machinery would access the tight site.

Agency official Larry told the commission he had inspected the property and suggested the commission schedule a field walk with agency members before approving the application. He asked the applicant to stake proposed features and to present an erosion-control plan; he also flagged interest in 'demarcation' of limits of disturbance and expressed concern about enforcing limits during construction.

After a brief discussion, Commissioner Mark Massoud moved to table the Acre Mountain Road application to the next regularly scheduled meeting so staff can prepare a report and the commission can arrange a site visit; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff and the applicant agreed to coordinate on staking and a site-walk time prior to the next meeting.
