The Aberdeen City Council approved moving up and funding a lime slaker replacement at the municipal water treatment plant after staff reported frequent breakdowns.
City manager Dave said three bids were solicited and staff recommended accepting the low bid from Northern Plains Contracting in the amount of $570,000. He said the lime slaker is used to treat pH and hardness and that the project had been scheduled for 2028 in the CIP but was accelerated because of equipment failures. Jordan confirmed the project will be paid from reserves in the water fund. The council approved the bid by roll-call vote.
