The City of McCassel police representative told the council the department logged approximately 290 activity reports in the past 30 days and provided an update on grant activity.
The officer reported the department is actively using a previously awarded grant to purchase equipment (about $215,000) and is pursuing an additional public-safety grant due on the 27th that the presenter said has a strong probability of award and could provide roughly $400,000 for personnel, benefits and related expenses. "If we get awarded that grant, I'm gonna try to replace 2 of our patrol vehicles... Buy some updated equipment that we desperately need and not have to use that out of our budget," the officer said.
The presenter also said the department had issued 30-day notices to properties for cleanup and will monitor compliance. The council acknowledged the report and had no further action recorded in the meeting on these grant items.
